(IQPIC) has been in existence since 1989. Initially a handful of managers from several companies and government agencies got together for two days every two months to study the teachings of Dr. W. Edwards Deming. With guidance provided by one of Dr. Deming's associates, Dr. Harold Haller, they helped reinforce each other's implementation of continual improvement methods. In recent years, IQPIC has maintained an aggressive agenda of courses and study groups, mostly in Indianapolis, Indiana. We produce a 16 page newsletter every two months. We also coordinate the U. S. schedule for John McConnell who sponsored and assisted Dr. Deming with his four-day Seminars in Australia. McConnell has captured the imagination of thousands who have heard him during our public and private seminars. He has an unusual ability to bring Deming's message to life with practical examples, stories and demonstrations. Now, beginning on May 7, 1996 IQPIC and six other organizations including the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce; ASQC, Indianapolis Chapter; AQP, Central Indiana Chapter; Central Indiana Quality Leadership Forum; Ohio Quality and Productivity Forum; and the University of Indianapolis have formed a coalition to present the Make A Difference Leadership Seminar Series and Improvement Exposition. The aim is to provide a common method for our leaders to communicate and lead our private and public organizations with the benefit of quality improvement methods. The sessions are expected to draw about 1,000 and feature world class speakers on quality, change, and leadership; presentations from senior executives from a variety of businesses; addresses by teams that have accomplished major process improvements; and a "storyboard exhibition" from individuals and teams that have accomplished improvements. Seats are still available. NOTE: We are seeking success story submissions for our exhibition of storyboards of team improvement projects. If you have documented a complete process improvement project using some type of storyboard method, you are encouraged to exhibit. There is no charge for exhibiting. You do not have to attend in person. All individuals and teams will receive several forms of recognition/award for their efforts, and entries will be publicly displayed during the entire Make A Difference Leadership Seminar Series. There is no judging of entries. Everyone wins through the exchange of ideas. For submission form, copy forms from our home page at http://a1.com/iqpic and fax to us or use other method of contact below. Featured faculty include: Peter Scholtes, Brian Joiner, Gipsie Ranney, Tom Nolan, John McConnell and Geoff Ward. Each will have action items that the participants are encouraged to complete, return to our office within 30 days of a session. Action is expected! What do we have to do to get each person, who, like Don, edits a newsletter, to select one or two tidbits out of the newsletter and publish it on this list? I read a wonderful couple of pieces in the San Diego Deming User Group and have seen many others as well. I'm sure these have been prepared on a computer, so sending them in should be a cinch.
