Workshop Programme Available http://www.eotc.be/Events/MarkingProgramme.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Following the success of the EOTC Marking Workshop held in March 1999 and the follow up Marking Discussion Forum, EOTC will host a second Marking 2000 Workshop in Brussels on 13 and 14 September, 2000. The EOTC Marking Discussion Forum was established under the convenorship of Dr Harry Gundlach, after the 1999 EOTC Marking Workshop. This group, working via an Internet Discussion Forum, involved commentary from over 150 people in 29 countries, and led to a report by Dr Gundlach. The purpose of this one and a half day Workshop is to consider the Report of the Working Group, the current highly varied world and European situation and to highlight the most serious issues raised. Below are some of the topics and issues that will be explored at the workshop: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Workshop Presentations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Workshop will feature a variety of speakers covering all relevant areas of expertise in order address the role and function of marking. Below are the summaries of two key presentations that will be made on each day of the workshop. The first presentation is by Dr Harry Gundlach, who is the Director of International Affairs at RvA as well as the convenor of the 'Marking Working Party'. He will present the findings and questions raised in the EOTC Discussion Paper 'Marks of Conformity for Products'. He will also discuss the key aspects of marking including the global situation, types of marks, mandatory and voluntary marking, third parties, suppliers and CE marking. The second presentation is by Mr. G. Mattino who is currently an Administrator at the European Commission - Enterprise Directorate General. He will speak about the role of marking in MRAs with third countries, including the impacts on CE marking and other European marks.
