About The W. Edwards Deming Institute

The W. Edwards Deming Institute is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1993 by noted consultant Dr. W. Edwards Deming.

The AIM of The Institute is to foster understanding of The Deming System of Profound Knowledge to advance commerce, prosperity and peace.

The Values of the Deming Institute:

Participation in The W. Edwards Deming Institute means that we share Dr. Deming's vision of a better world. We participate because we strive, with joy, to carry on the work that he began. We seek to conduct ourselves in a manner consistent with his high moral and ethical standards, professional and personal integrity, and commitment to lifelong learning. We do this solely from dedication to the philosophy and values of Dr. Deming and belief that together, with humility, we can and will make a difference in the quality of life for everyone.

Create and sustain a community of mutual support.

Objectives:

Create opportunities to exchange ideas and experiences related to Deming's work.
Promote cooperation with interested organizations worldwide.
Preserve, promote and make available Deming's works and related works of others.

Research

Support research to elaborate on The Deming System of Profound Knowledge and to extend its application.

Objectives:

Provide for dissemination of research findings.
Promote research in academia and the community

Education

Foster learning and education in Deming's theory and its application.

Objectives:

Provide opportunities for lifelong learning.
Support and develop methods and materials to teach Deming's theory and its application.
Support education in Deming's theory and promote understanding of Deming's System of Profound Knowledge.
Promote the application of Deming's theory to education.

Development and Outreach

Support the development of individuals, organizations and society.

Objectives:

Promote cooperation between organizations in business, education, and government.
Establish dialogue with leaders and decision makers.
